At Home with Needlework

As you know, Zweigart is recognised as one of the world’s leading suppliers of textiles with an extensive array of colours and styles.  Well now the company has produced a magazine of outstanding quality entitled At Home with Needlework.
It features page after page of eye-catching designs and creative ways to complement the décor in your home with Zweigart fabrics, the new publication is sure to bring needlework joy to all stitchers.

The aim of At Home with Needlework is not only to appeal to those who have enjoyed the art of needlework year after year, but to spark an interest with a whole new generation of stitchers.  It invites everyone to embark on a new journey to explore needlework in depth.  In addition to cross-stitch and needlepoint, each issue will feature hardanger, embroidery and crochet projects and sections designed for children and stitchers with poor eye-sight.

Future issues will feature an array of designs focusing on the art of punch needle, pulled thread embroidery, blackwork, Brazilian embroidery, "crazy quilting," ribbon embroidery and so many other wonderful needlework techniques. With each and every design, you will learn more about the extensive needlework collection Zweigart has to offer and how diverse the product range really is.

We have issues one, two, three and four in stock and we are also offering an annual subscription service which covers five issues.  We also have the facility to obtain any Zweigart fabrics which are featured in the magazine.

As with many of the designers we profile, Kelly established Mystic Stitch because she was frustrated by the selection of cross stitch patterns available at her local needlework store.  So, she decided to create her own.  This was in 2001 and seven years later her patterns are distributed in over 29 countries and in 50 U.S. states.  She personally designs and publishes each of the patterns that are offered by Mystic Stitch and they jokingly refer to their designs as “paint by numbers” for the new millennium.

Back in 2001 Kelly was  being asked by other stitchers to create patterns for them.  She soon discovered that she was not alone in her frustration as there were other people with a real desire to stitch more modern, intricate designs. The days of stitching our mothers “samplers” were over. With the help of a cross stitch group she belonged to, they made a list of the types of patterns people were looking for, as well as problems stitchers were having with many of the “store bought” designs.  Kelly worked with a computer programmer (her sister) to create software that would help with the designing process.  A lot of “trial and error” went into the project but the end result has been amazing!

With a focus on present day artwork, Mystic Stitch offers cross stitch patterns in a wide range of designs to satisfy even the most disconcerting stitcher.  For example, beautiful landscapes, still life portraits, holiday designs, famous landmarks, vintage posters and their fastest growing category - fantasy designs.  The latter group is headed by the amazing artwork of Maxine Gadd and we have many of these adaptations on our website – click here for more details.

Mystic Stitch now licenses artwork from over 150 different artists and 6 major publishing houses from all around the world.  What makes Kelly’s patterns so unique is her attention to detail. In selecting the artwork she is very mindful of the little things.  If she is not able to do justice to the original artwork and make the artist proud, she will not use it.  As a result, hundreds of designs never leave the drawing board.
